THEY can afford the finest designer clothes that money can buy – but a host of footballers, WAGs and famous faces dressed down in their trackies, trainers and baseball caps at a CHAV-themed charity bash.

The fancy dress event was held to raise cash for the Once Upon A Smile charity at the celebhaunt Victor’s Restaurant in Hale.

Real Housewives of Cheshire star Leanne Brown, wife of Sunderland footballer Wes Brown, went all out for a ‘chav’ look with her hair in a high ponytail, skintight red leggings and bomber jacket. It was completed with a Chanel handbag.

Meanwhile, Stoke City footballer Phil Bardsley stuck to a straightforward Adidas tracksuit as he headed along to the do with wife Tanya, who had her hair in a retro scrunchy and wore workout gear and trainers for her fancy dress outfit.

Emmerdale star Kelvin Fletcher also got in on the act wearing an Ellesse top, baseball cap and an Adidas ‘manbag’ casually slung across his muscular chest.

Chav is a term that has become used to stereotype young, anti-social louts wearing sportswear, made famous by comedy characters like Vicky Pollard.

Inside the do the loutish themes continued – with celebs dished out with bright yellow ‘penalty charge notices’ if they spent too much time on their phones.

And The Diary hears there was no keeping down Real Housewives star Leanne, with pals donating money to the charity in order to get her up singing a Madonna tune inside the event.

She was joined by her Real Housewives colleagues Ampika Pickston who wore a daring low-cut peach top teamed with garish printed workout trousers and trainers as she headed to the do with co-star Lauren Simon who had a more chic take on the look in a slogan T-shirt saying ‘Girls do it better’.

Top marks to Key 103 DJ Darren Proctor, hosting the bash for the charity, for his take on the chav look – white Kappa top, gold chains and an impressively loutish look as he posed for photos outside.

More than £10,000 was raised at the charity dinner for the bereavement charity Once Upon A Smile charity, which provides emotional, practical and financial support to bereaved families at their time of need.

It’s not the first time we’ve seen a chav-themed extravaganza in our midst. For who can forget when the entire Corrie cast headed out in their trackies and gold medallions for the leaving do for Michelle Keegan from the soap?
