SALES of Glossop Caravans’ soughtafter Special Edition range 2017 have hit an all-time high as part of the company’s turnover of almost £10 million at this season’s major trade shows.

Customers have so far snapped up more than 200 award-winning Coachman Festival, Elddis Chatsworth and Swift Celebration models over the past four months - 50 per cent more than in 2016 and more than 40 per cent of all caravans sold at the shows.

The popular Elddis Chatsworth range has already sold out and advance bookings are now being taken for the 2018 model.

Family-run Glossop Caravans is delighted with the enthusiastic response from caravanners looking for an extra touch of luxury for their money at the Motorhome and Caravan Show, NEC, Birmingham, last October; the Caravan and Motorhome Show, EventCity, Manchester, in January and the Caravan, Camping and Motorhome Show, NEC in February.

“This significant rise in demand for our bespoke, high-specification Special Edition range 2017 proves that our customers are becoming increasingly discerning when it comes to the quality and value for money offered by the models they buy,” said Stan and Brian Laing, the company’s joint managing directors.

“Their success mirrors the healthy increase in our turnover at all three major trade shows this season, where we’ve sold a total of more than 400 new caravans and motorhomes.”

The current range also scored a near clean sweep in three Dealer Special categories in The Caravan Club’s prestigious Caravan Design Awards, which highlight the very best two berth, three to four berth and over four berth caravans on the market each year.

As Easter approaches and the 2017 caravanning season gets into full swing, national statistics suggest that camping and caravanning are on the crest of a wave:

Caravanning is worth £6 billion to the UK economy each year

130,000 people are employed in the UK’s caravan sector

13.3 million camping and caravanning trips are made by UK residents each year

More than a quarter (28 per cent) of trips are in touring caravans or motorhomes

Stan and Brian added: “Whether you’re new to caravanning or looking to update your current model, now that spring is here, it’s the ideal time to visit our showroom or browse our extensive stock online to find the perfect option and start the new holiday season in style.”
