Stars come out for Curly’s return

- DIANNE BOURNE & KATIE FITZPATRICK WITH ALL THE INSIDE STORIES

CORONATION Street stars past and present walked the red carpet to support former Corrie favourite Kevin Kennedy in The Commitments. Kevin, who played assistant supermarket manager Curly Watts in the soap from 1983 to 2003, is on the road in the stage show version of Roddy Doyle’s hit musical - which has arrived at Manchester’s Palace Theatre for a two-week run.

There to cheer him on were Angela Lonsdale, who played Kevin’s onscreen police officer wife Emma.

She was joined by her pal fellow former Corrie star Denise Welch who played Natalie Barnes in Corrie.

The friends looked excited to see the show and as well as smiling for the cameras lining the red carpet, the ladies stopped to pose together for a selfie.

Glam actress Katie McGlynn, who plays machinist Sinead Tinker on the show, wore a star-patterned dress and over-the-knee boots for the big night.

Also attending The Commitments press night were co-stars Georgia Taylor who plays Toyah Battersby, Sally Ann Matthews who plays Jenny Bradley, Rob Mallard who plays Sinead’s boyfriend Daniel Osbourne and Daniel Brocklebank who plays vicar Billy Mayhew.

Viewers have been gripped by the ongoing story of Sinead and Daniel’s turbulent relationship.

In Monday night’s shocking double bill Daniel discovered the horrible truth that Sinead had had an abortion after pretending that she had lost their baby.

Fans later saw his father Ken Barlow collapsed at the bottom of his stairs after being pushed, leaving both Sinead and Daniel along with the rest of the Barlow clan as potential suspects in a dramatic whodunnit plot.
