MANCHESTER has set its stall out as an ambitious world-leading city with its latest promotional video.

Created by The Neighbourhood agency, in partnership with Marketing Manchester, the film follows one man through his many urban guises.

Filmed in more than 50 locations, with up to 20 costume changes and a home-grown soundtrack by the city’s Modern Family Unit, Manchester is represented as a diverse and exciting place to live.

The film reveals the potential of the city for the individual arriving here for the first time by featuring the vibrancy, history and creativity.

The slick 80 second piece opens by panning over the cityscape, cutting to shots of the town hall clock and Beetham Tower.

It then flicks between numerous key spots from Manchester Airport, The Principal Manchester, through university life to scientific discoveries and the nightlife of Spinningfields.

With a nod to Manchester’s industrial heritage the man is seen walking through MOSI with black and white footage cut in of the world’s first stored programme computer.

A constant throughout the film is a man striding forward for the first time to experience all the opportunities that are available in the city.

From roaring football stadiums to packed out gigs and the bright lights of MediaCityUK the film focuses on the Mancunian identity.

Revealed for the first time at MIPIM in March 2017 as part of Manchester’s biggest presence yet at the worldwide property event, the response to the film was extremely positive. Marketing Manchester managing director, Sheona Southern, said: “The reaction to the film has been remarkable, we can confidently share this film as it says all we want to say in an exciting and inspiring promo. “The Neighbourhood have been an instrumental creative content partner for Manchester at MIPIM for two years now and have once again demonstrated they understand Manchester and what we are all about, growth and development.” Reviews of the film included ‘Manchester looks strong and confident despite Brexit’ and Manchester came only behind London and Paris as ‘the globe’s most inspiring city.’
