‘Princess Leia and Chewbacca’ in brawl at station
THIS is the moment a father and son dressed as Star Wars characters Princess Leia and Chewbacca trade punches with a football fan during an ugly brawl at a busy railway station.
Robert Hughes, 48, and his son Cameron Hughes, 20, had been drinking all day on a stag do. Connor Hughes, 19, who is no relation, had also been drinking with friends after a City match at the Etihad Stadium.
A court heard the two groups came across each other ‘by chance’ at Manchester Piccadilly and the ugly vio- lence flared in front of shocked commuters after comments were exchanged between them.
Cameron Hughes – wearing a Chewbacca ‘onesie’ – is captured appearing to headbutt one of student Connor Hughes’ group near a doorway.
Robert Hughes, in a white Princess Leia outfit, is then punched by Connor Hughes, with the blow knocking a black plaited wig from his head.
His son goes on to trade blows with Connor Hughes in the fight on October 15 last year. All three spoke of their shame and regret at Manchester magistrates court after they were convicted of a public order offence. The scenes were caught on CCTV and played in court. Robert and Cameron Hughes, of The Retreat in Romiley, Stockport, and Connor Hughes, of Flaxcroft Road, Wythenshawe, were all sentenced to 12-month community orders with 150 hours of unpaid work and costs and charges of £170 each.
