LIAM Livingstone has missed out on a place in England’s Champions Trophy squad.

After an impressive winter with the Lions and a great start to the new campaign, the Lancashire youngster was tipped by some as having an outside chance of working his way into the 15-man party for the 50-over competition, which starts in June.

But it has been deemed too soon for the 23-year-old, who has also been left out of the squad to face Ireland in two warm-up matches, despite a number of players in the Champions Trophy squad missing the games due to their involvement in the Indian Premier League.

Lancashire team-mate Jos Buttler – who is playing in the IPL – is the only Red Rose player in the Champions Trophy squad.

Livingstone scored a careerbest 168 in the stunning County Championship win over Somerset this week, captained the side and was then awarded his county cap at the club’s AGM on Monday night.

He, and Lancashire, are back in action on Friday when they begin their Royal London One-Day Cup campaign against Leicestershire Foxes at Emirates Old Trafford (2pm).

Shivnarine Chanderpaul (hamstring) and Steven Croft (thumb) are set to miss out, which means Haseeb Hameed is set to play his first list A game for the county.

“Haseeb is in our plans,” said Lancashire head coach Glen Chapple.
