Noel is a fine role model

-

WHILE I thoroughly enjoyed your article ‘Noel Gallagher donates controversial (but still sold out) Adidas trainer to jumble sale,’ it did not surprise me in the least because Noel Gallagher has a long history of philanthropy which does not receive the same media attention as his career, his differences with brother Liam, or other controversies.

I would like to mention that Noel Gallagher had more than one struggle in his life. His speech was plagued by stammering, as was the case for his brother Paul, and the two had to have extensive speech therapy.

The website of the non-profit Stuttering Foundation has a section called Celebrity Corner with biographical articles on famous stammerers and how they have coped with their speech.

There is an article on Noel Gallagher entitled, Singer Rocks On, which states that the Oasis guitarist had to go to weekly speech therapy for over four years to overcome his stammer.

It goes on to give examples of Gallagher talking about his stammering in interviews and how it shaped his life. The website of this nonprofit charity (www. stammeringhelp.org) also is famous for providing countless free resources.

As a stammerer, I am fully aware that Noel Gallagher being so open about his stammering makes him an inspiration and role model to young stammerers.

Time after time, the rock star has gone out of his way to publicly speak about his stammering in a way that lets other stammerers know that they are not alone.

In my opinion, the way in which Noel Gallagher has addressed his stammering makes him a philanthropy hero.
