Harrison will try and try again to get over the line

- RUGBY UNION By MICHAEL HALE

SALE Sharks loosehead prop Ross Harrison Is happy to be the club’s unsung hero.

The 24-year-old has been an everpresent in Steve Diamond’s side, starting every game since mid-November.

He made his 150th appearance for Sale in the win against Worcester Warriors earlier this month, but is yet to score a try in a Sharks shirt.

The Bolton-born prop, however, is happy to do the dirty work, even if there is a slight regret over not claiming a penalty or conversion.

“I get quite a lot of stick in the changing rooms,” admitted Harrison. “I’m beginning to think if I’ll ever score. Hopefully it will come, maybe this weekend! I’ve been close but I’ve not got over just yet. I’m the unsung hero if you like, getting around doing the stuff that’s not seen.

“I want to be involved with as much rugby as I can. You want to see the game out and it’s a privilege that I’ve been able to do that this year.

“It’s my ambition to play for England. I’ve just got to keep moving forwards as a player, progress my own game and, hopefully, one day the call will come. Until that day I’ve just got to focus on Sale.”

Tom Curry, Kieran Longbottom, Laurence Pearce and Josh Charnley come into the starting XV to face Leicester Tigers this afternoon with 20-year-old prop Diogo Ferreira in line for his debut off the bench as Sale look for a record fourth successive win against the Tigers.
