Jose faces battle to land his Mann!

- By STUART MATHIESON

UNITED face serious obstacles in their pursuit of Atletico Madrid’s Antoine Griezmann.

Jose Mourinho accepts he needs to rebuild his attacking force at Old Trafford.

Wayne Rooney’s United career appears to be coming to a close and will end in the summer.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s serious cruciate knee ligament injury also leaves a big void.

Griezmann is understood to be Mourinho’s No.1 target.

But the 26-year-old is reluctant to destabilise his life in Spain next season ahead of the 2018 World Cup in Russia next summer.

France currently head their qualifying Group A and are favourites to make the finals.

“If Atletico Madrid are still contesting at the top of La Liga, Diego Simeone is still boss at Atletico then there is a strong pull to stay one more year because of the World Cup,” a source close to the Griezmann family told M.E.N. Sport.

Simeone’s position as manager at the Vicente Calderon is still in the balance.

Last December his son Giovanni, who plays for Genoa, revealed the Argentine wanted to manage his former club Inter Milan.

Griezmann and his partner had a baby girl last year and he loves the lifestyle in Spain.

It won’t stop United hoping that they can persuade him to move to Manchester and tackle the challenge of the Premier League.
