Celebs head for pizza the action on a free lunch

-

HUNGRY soap stars joined the rush to pick up some free pizza at a city centre takeaway. Customers were queuing down the road when Italian Express announced that they wanted to give people a treat of a free lunch.

And they were stunned to be joined at the shop on Higher Cambridge Street by a host of soap and reality TV favourites.

Coronation Street’s Katie McGlynn, Lucy Fallon and Tisha Merry turned heads as they stopped by for a pizza.

And fans were also amazed to spot Emmerdale and I’m A Celebrity’s Adam Thomas with his Love Island star brother Scott, who happily posed for selfies with people waiting in the queue.

Corrie star Katie, who has been training hard in the gym with Salford boxer Jamie Moore at the VIP Amateur Boxing Club in Astley, told us that when she heard about the giveaway she decided she was going to give it to the builders working on her house as a treat.

Katie, who plays Sinead Tinker in the ITV1 soap, said: “The pizza isn’t for me, it’s for my builders. I must be the best customer ever.”

The Corrie friends picked up the lunchtime treat before dropping actress Lucy back at work in Weathefield, where she is at the centre of the drama as vulnerable teen Bethany Platt, who is being groomed by her twisted boyfriend Nathan Curtis as part of a harrowing grooming storyline.

Manchester reality star Scott, who found love with makeup artist Lady McDermott on last year’s series of the ITV2 reality show Love Island, shared a photo of himself with thrilled fans at the shop with the message: “Pizza giveaway going OFF !!!! ”

Italian Express had planned to give away 250 free pizzas but demand was so large, they ended up handing out 500 between 12 and 3pm.

Two customers turned up holding a folding deckchair and a beach ball after hearing about the giveaway while taking part in a beach theme art project near the Mancunian Way.
