THE Peter’s sorry but won’t be sharing a happy ending

-

PETER Kay has apologised for upsetting fans with the ending of series two and news there won’t be a third series of Car Share. The Bolton comic caused uproar when he said there won’t be a new series of Car Share - or a Christmas special - as series two ended its run on Tuesday night.

Peter has since called up Becky Want’s show on BBC Radio Manchester again to reflect on the reaction to his on-air revelation that the hit BBC One sitcom will not be returning,

And he said he was sorry for the upset caused to Car Share fans hoping for a happy ending for soul mates John Redmond and Kayleigh Kitson, played by Peter and Sian Gibson although he still insists there won’t be a new series.

Peter, who originally called into Becky’s show because she had been playing Forever FM songs as a tribute to the programme, said: “I never intended to talk about Car Share. You asked me about a series three I said I don’t think there would be another, which there isn’t going to be, or Christmas special. “Sian put her phone on. ‘What have you said?.’ She said, ‘My phone’s gone mental.’ “I just mentioned we’re not doing another one. That’s truth. “I didn’t mean to upset anybody. I didn’t think there would be petitions.” Peter Kay

Peter says he was emotional while filming the heartbreaking scenes on Pomona Strand, Salford which saw Kayleigh storm out of John’s Fiat 500L after he failed to return her declaration of love.

“I was very upset when I did it and every time I watch it back I get a bit teary as well,” he said.

“It was hard to film. It was quite sad when she got out.

“I’m sorry I upset people. There were a lot of funny things in last night’s episode.

“People are forgetting about us hanging out of the frontroom window.

“They’re just concentrating on the ending.”
