Boss excited as Ammies bid to make play-off final

SALFORD CITY will hope to book a place in the National League North play-off final when they take on Halifax Town in their semi-final second leg tomorrow.

The two teams are currently tied at 1-1 after the first leg on Wednesday finished all square at Moor Lane.

Salford now travel to the Shay looking to progress, and jointmanag­er Bernard Morley is hopeful they can pick up a victory.

“We’ll go there and enjoy ourselves and embrace what it is. The lads have done well to get where we are,” he said.

“The team showed on Wednesday what we’re all about by coming back from 1-0 down against a strong side and nearly winning the game. We will go there looking to win the game and be who we are and do what has got us to this point.”

Salford came back from a goal down in the first leg, with James Poole getting the equaliser, and Morley was full of praise for his efforts.

“James is a match winner and everybody that is connected with the club knows that,” he said.

“He changes games if he is given the chance to do so and he made a big impact on Wednesday.”

Meanwhile, WIGAN ATHLETIC have their final match of the season this weekend when they host Leeds United at the DW Stadium. The Latics have already been relegated to League One and will finish in 23rd place regardless of their result.
