TRIBUTES have been paid to a motorcyclist who died following a collision with a car.

The victim, who has been named locally as Rick Lock, was thrown from his bike following the collision at around 5.25pm on Saturday.

Police were called to Commercial Road, at the junction of Butler Street in Hazel Grove, Stockport, and discovered a black Aprilia motorcycle and white Ford Fiesta were involved in a collision.

Mr Lock was found suffering serious injuries and was taken to Stepping Hill Hospital, where he died.

Hundreds of tributes have been paid to the 39-year-old, affectionately known to friends as ‘Big Rick.’

Already, more than £2,000 has been donated to a fundraising campaign launched to help Rick’s family pay for the funeral. It is believed he had three young children.

Many of the tributes described Rick as a ‘gent’ and ‘diamond.’

Louise McGarrie wrote: “I was deeply saddened by the news of my cousin’s passing. My heartfelt condolences to you and the family.”
