ENTRIES for the Greater Manchester Schools Awards 2017 are now open and this week we’re on the hunt for the best primary and secondary schools in the region.

And with the deadline for nominations fast approaching, we are urging schools, teachers, parents and even pupils to get in touch.

The two awards we are highlighting this week are Primary School of the Year and Secondary School of the Year.

The Primary School of the Year award is for the school that, in the opinion of the judges, has had an outstanding academic year.

This may be improvements in attendance levels, parent engagement or examination results.

Or your school may have made or built upon a partnership in the local or business community, achieved new green credentials, or achieved competition success.

Whatever your school’s achievements, we would love to hear about them and celebrate your school’s hard work.

Last year, our judges were wowed by Green End Primary in Burnage with their motto of ‘dream it, achieve it!’

The school has proved it is committed to ensuring that every child reaches their potential during their time at the school.

The Manchester College Secondary School of the Year recognises a school that in the opinion of the judges has had an outstanding academic year.

This may be improvements in attendance levels, parent engagement or examination results.

You may have made or built upon partnership in the local or business community, achieved new green credentials, or achieved competition success.

In 2016, St Damian’s RC Science College topped off its most successful year to date with this award.

St Damian’s, a once failing school, is now rated as ‘good’ by Ofsted and, according to parents, has changed beyond recognition in recent years.
