Cinema with a Vue opening next week

-

VUE has announced an opening date for its cinema in the Printworks.

The 23-screen site in Manchester city centre will reopen to the public on Wednesday, May 24.

It will replace the Odeon, which closes this Sunday, May 14.

There will be a ten-day changeover before the venue reopens under the new brand.

The official opening date was announced by Steve Gleave, general manager at Vue Printworks.

He said: “We’re really excited about unveiling our new Vue to the people of Manchester. There’s been a real buzz since we announced our arrival, and I can’t wait for us to make our mark on the city centre.

“The Printworks is an iconic part of Manchester, and we’re delighted to be bringing our big screen experience to new and returning customers when we open later this month.”

The closure of Odeon in the Printworks caused concern for ‘Limitless’ pass holders, who felt they would lose the perks of the unlimited movies scheme if there were no Odeon outlets in the city centre. Odeon have since confirmed they are in talks to reopen in the Great Northern site on Deansgate, which is currently an AMC.

It’s expected that Pirates of the Caribbean: Salazar’s Revenge will preview on the opening date at Vue, followed later by previews of Baywatch and Wonder Woman.

The Printworks cinema will also host screenings of Take That’s upcoming Wonderland tour live from the O2 on Friday, June 9.
