We’ll win Euro cup for our missing players, says Mat

ERIC Bailly’s agony will spur on United in their bid to sweep aside Ajax and win the Europa League.

The Ivory Coast international has been a hit at Old Trafford since becoming Jose Mourinho’s first signing as Reds boss last summer for £30m from Villarreal.

But his red mist in the semi-final second leg has KO’d his dreams of playing in Stockholm.

He joins an unwanted club of United players who’ve missed European final because of bans.

Roy Keane and Paul Scholes missed the 1999 Champions League final and Darren Fletcher was suspended for the 2011 showpiece match.

Matteo Darmian says the 23-year-old was down in the United dressing room after the Celta Vigo tie.

“Of course, he was not very happy for the red card but he’s another reason to win the Europa League,” said the Italian full back.

“Eric has had a fantastic season, in his first for United he’s been brilliant, but we have other players who can cope with his absence.

“He’s very important for us, but like I said we have other players who are also very good.

“Now we go every time to win with the same mentality.

“We will also miss a lot of players with injuries to Marcos Rojo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Luke Shaw, and Ashley Young.

It is a big challenge to win the trophy, also for these players.”
