What’s the beef about new gin bar?

-

THE gin and steak specialists Alston Bar & Beef have revealed they will open in Manchester’s Corn Exchange.

Serving 120 different types of gin and a selection of 35 steaks, this will be the brand’s second venue after their flagship Glasgow site.

Claiming to serve the ‘best steak and gin in Glasgow’, the restaurant serves Tweed Valley beef selected from the top one per cent of the Scottish beef.

Dishes in their Glasgow restaurant include braised beef cheek (£16), the Alston burger (£16), and a selection of steak cuts from rump (250g for £20) to fillet (227g for £32).

Diners can expect a similar menu when the Manchester branch opens later this year.

General manager of the Scottish diner, Riki Bennet, said: “Our bar and restaurant in Glasgow has been a real success and now we have the opportunity to grow our business south of the border.

“The Corn Exchange is home to some fantastic operations and we will only enhance that further by building a quality steak and gin offering in a really unique environment that everyone can enjoy.”

Andrew Coles, from Corn Exchange owners Aviva Investors, added: “This will offer Manchester the best of Scotland’s food and drink alongside restaurants from around the world.”

The new venture will be based in the formerly empty unit 6 in the Corn Exchange.
