Brook is not fazed by new twist in feud with Khan before bout
KELL Brook insists he is not surprised that his long-time rival Amir Khan is letting Errol Spence use his gym ahead of their fight next weekend.
Brook defends his IBF welterweight title against highly-rated American Spence at Sheffield United’s Bramall Lane stadium on May 27.
Spence arrived in the UK earlier this week, with Khan allowing him to use his gym in Bolton while he prepares for the fight.
Brook and Khan have been bitter enemies for a number of years, and the Sheffield boxer says he isn’t fazed about the latest development in their feud.
“That’s Amir Khan through and through. He would love to see me lose this fight so he doesn’t have to fight me but that’s not going to happen,” he said.
“He can lend Errol his gym but he can’t save him on May 27 and the only thing on my mind is the fight.”
Brook and Khan were linked to a fight with each other this summer, but talks broke down and Brook instead had to defend his belt against mandatory challenger Spence.
It will be Brook’s first fight since he stepped up two weight classes to face Gennady Golovkin, and he plans on impressing.
“The fans know what I’m about. I’ve gone from moving up to middleweight to fight Gennady Golovkin to coming back down to face one of the most dangerous welterweights out there,” he said.
“All I want to do is give the fans what they want – that’s what they deserve.”
