Rochdale ready to stop the rot
ROCHDALE are looking to put an end to a run of nine RL matches without victory when they travel to The Shay to take on Halifax tomorrow.
Last time out, Alan Kilshaw’s side fell to a 38-8 defeat to Featherstone Rovers and the Hornets boss is looking for an improved performance this time out.
“We were pretty off and made too many errors in the first half, but the second half it got to 38-4 with half an hour left and the lads worked for each other and didn’t concede any points in that last period, so we can take some positives from that,” he said.
“Halifax are on a really good run and they went well against Featherstone last week so we’re under no illusions it’ll be a difficult game.
“They’re a good defensive side and they’re hard to break down so it’ll be a tough challenge, but we’re looking forward to it.”
OLDHAM take on Batley Bulldogs at Manchester Regional Arena, but Scott Naylor is not worried about playing a home match away from Bower Fold.
“A pitch is a pitch. I don’t get all the talk these days about flat pitches, sloping pitches, wide pitches, narrow pitches, home games and away games.
“You don’t lose a game because of the pitch; you lose because you didn’t play well.”
SWINTON LIONS travel to table-toppers Hull KR with new-arrival Connor Farrell in the ranks after he joined on loan from WIGAN.
“He is a tough, robust, skilful and no-nonsense player with a big engine,” said coach John Duffy.
“I am looking forward to seeing him put on a Swinton shirt.”
