OLYMPIC gold medallist Roger Black MBE will be advising families who say they ‘can’t run’ at a major sporting event.

The champion sprinter will be running family masterclasses at the twoday GoFest event – backed by the M.E.N. – which takes place at SportCity at the Etihad Stadium on June 24-25.

He wants people to give running a go, even if they aren’t sure they will enjoy it.Roger said: “I know a lot of families feel nervous about going to sports centres, it can be really daunting.

“That’s what’s great about GoFest – it’s perfect for families who aren’t too sure about sport – and that’s exactly what it was designed for.

“It’s all about trying new things, getting stuck in and having fun with your family.

“There is something for everyone at the festival and that’s what makes it so great, and why my kids love it.”

He added: “I initially got involved as my kids wanted to go along, they loved it and it was great to see so many families supporting each other.

“I am really looking forward to bringing the event to Manchester.”

Coaches from Sale Sharks, England netball, Manchester Giants, Salford Red Devils and Lancashire County Cricket Club will be running sessions at the event.

And there will also be food stalls, live music in the early evening and a Latin carnival dancing set to spice things up.

Tickets are on sale now with adults starting from £14 and kids just £7. A full family ticket is £49.50, giving you access on both days of the event. Get them from gofest.co.uk.
