Defender Sagna still unsure of his place at City

- By STUART BRENNAN

BACARY Sagna says he is still in the dark over his future at City.

The 34-year-old right-back is one of six Blues players out of contract this summer – and Pablo Zabaleta and Gael Clichy have already confirmed they will leave the club.

Pep Guardiola intends to bring at least two new full-backs, one right and one left, with Tottenham’s Kyle Walker high on his list. But he is also expected to keep at least one of his current right-back options, with talks being held with Jesus Navas over a possible one-year extension.

The emergence of Fernandinho as a right-back has given the management food for thought, although the Brazil midfielder does not seem too keen to make it a permanent shift in position.

Sagna is expected to leave, but after playing in the Blues’ 5-0 win at Watford, he said he had heard nothing from the club.

Asked about his future, Sagna replied: “I don’t know. I’m reaching the end of my contract.

“I just want to enjoy the day and am not thinking about it. I am just very pleased with the team’s performance.

“Regarding my future, it’s the end of my contract, so I’m open.”

City are expected to make it plain to the out-of-contract players – the others being Willy Caballero and Yaya Toure – whether they will be offered a new deal.

Asked whether his future would be sorted this week, Sagna replied: “God knows, I don’t know. You know me, I will try to give my best every time I go to play.

“I have had a strange season because of the injuries. I came back from the Euros after a long season last season, and I just tried to learn what I could.

“I learned a lot through the year and am very happy and glad I stayed another year here.”
