A MUM who was at Manchester Arena with her daughter sadly died in the terror attack.

Primary school teacher Wendy Fawell, from Otley, West Yorkshire, had been missing since Monday’s explosion.

Her family had launched a frantic campaign to try to find her.

Wendy’s son Adam confirmed the dreadful news on social media yesterday morning, writing: “I’m sad to say my mum Wendy Fawell didn’t survive the blast. R.I.P. Mum xxx”

St Oswald’s C of E Primary School, in Guiseley, said on Twitter on Thursday morning: “It is with deepest sadness that I confirm that our former colleague Wendy Fawell was killed in the Manchester bombing. RIP, Wendy.”

Wendy, aged 50, is thought to have been about to leave the concert at Manchester Arena with her 15-year-old daughter Charlotte, along with a friend and her sons, when they were caught in the attack.

Adam later released a statement through police.

It read: “Me and my family are truly devastated by the news. Mum was a wonderful woman.

“So kind and generous and touched the lives of so many.

“She will be greatly missed. Also I would like to add, how much it means to us, what everybody at home and in Manchester has done to support us at this time. Thank you.” Her friend, Debbie Mcdowell, wrote on Facebook: “I am heartbroken beyond belief. I have lost my best friend and confident Wendy Fawell. “A beautiful, lady who I will have treasured memories of. “Night, God bless sweetheart. Love you to the moon and back xxxx.” More than 100 people attended a vigil for Wendy in Otley on Tuesday evening. Otley Town Council has now also opened a Book of Condolence for Wendy.
