Daren added: “It is fight or flight, you do one or the other.
“I was grateful to the homeless men than were running in and out and helping as well. A lot of people take flight, we fought it.”
After he gave aid to injured people, police then shouted at him to get out of the building. The father-of-two said the incident has left him traumatised.
He wanted to attend vigils held in memory of the 22 killed in the blast, but he did not feel comfortable travelling into Manchester city centre.
Daren said: “I can’t get it out of my head. It was like watching a horror movie, but I was in a real one.
“My son keeps asking if I am alright, my family can’t understand why I ran back.”
