“There was a stand nearby with Ariana Grande T-shirts. We made makeshift bandages out of the t-shirts.”

Daren added: “It is fight or flight, you do one or the other.

“I was grateful to the homeless men than were running in and out and helping as well. A lot of people take flight, we fought it.”

After he gave aid to injured people, police then shouted at him to get out of the building. The father-of-two said the incident has left him traumatise­d.

He wanted to attend vigils held in memory of the 22 killed in the blast, but he did not feel comfortabl­e travelling into Manchester city centre.

Daren said: “I can’t get it out of my head. It was like watching a horror movie, but I was in a real one.

“My son keeps asking if I am alright, my family can’t understand why I ran back.”
