Mum’s looking good for beauty pageant

-

A MUM-OF-TWO from Middleton is getting ready for the national finals of a beauty pageant after being crowned Miss Elegant North in the regional heats.

Emma Mansell took the top prize at the regional competition in Southport in November, and will now compete for the title of Miss British Isles next month.

She started modelling after being spotted on Facebook while exploring child modelling options for her 11-year-old son Brandon.

Emma, who has lived in Middleton since she was four, had a portfolio done, and was then contacted by Model Guides who put her in touch with a talent agency – and the rest is history.

She said: “This is the first time I have ever entered a beauty pageant. I am very excited.

“I worked as a child model and returned to modelling in September last year and I am doing pretty well. I am part Swedish and I have short blonde hair, so I have a bit of a different look to your average model.

“I have been working pretty hard but I am really enjoying it.”

Emma says she is looking forward to the Miss British Isles contest, which will take place in Chester on June 18, but she is also nervous about it.

As well as Brandon, Emma has a 16-year-old daughter, Leila.
