Tragic Megan’s family: ‘Our hearts are broken’

-

THE ‘shattered’ parents of schoolgirl Megan Hurley, who was killed during the bomb attack at Manchester Arena, have paid tribute to their ‘beautiful’ daughter.

Megan, from Merseyside, has been described as a fun-loving, sincere and caring young lady who loved music and going to concerts.

More than £10,000 has been raised to help Megan’s family pay for a funeral after friends set up a fundraising page.

Yesterday the teenager’s parents, Michael and Joanne, paid tribute to their daughter ‘on behalf of all those who knew and loved Megan’.

They said: “Our beautiful daughter Megan – best friend and loving sister to her brother Bradley.

“Megan was a fun-loving, sincere, caring and beautiful young lady.

“Megan had a passion for music and loved going to concerts. She loved socialising and loved having family get-togethers.

“She also loved to have her friends over for sleepovers or just to have catch ups.

“Cruelly taken from us on a night she had waited so long for. No words can describe how we feel right now, other than our hearts are broken and our lives are shattered.

“Goodnight. God bless. Beauty Queen.”

The fundraising page to help Megan’s family was set up by Helen McDermott, from Halewood, to help fund ‘a beautiful send off’ for Megan.

She wrote: “Let’s help Megan Hurley’s family as much as possible guys this is an awful time for the whole country but we can do our bit for our own!!!”

Writing on the JustGiving page after the appeal Helen thanked those who had donated for their generosity.

She wrote: “Absolutely astounded at the amount of donations that have been received and the distance the appeal has gone!”

A day after the attack a service was held at St Nicholas’ Church in Halewood, Merseyside, in memory of the Manchester bombing victims.
