UNITED players Marcus Rashford and Jesse Lingard put smiles on the faces of injured children as they paid a visit to those hurt in the Manchester Arena attack.

The pair went to Royal Manchester Children’s Hospital yesterday.

A total of 22 people were killed in the explosion at the Ariana Grande concert at the Arena two weeks ago and more than 100 others were injured, many of them young children.

Since the attack the Queen and Grande have visited the injured at the hospital and Lingard and Rashford were the latest to show their support.

Both players have grown up in Manchester. Lingard was born in Warrington and has been playing with United since the age of seven, while Rashford was raised in Wythenshawe.

Lingard also took to his Instagram page to document the visit. He posted a number of pictures showing the pair handing out signed shirts to the children in the hospital and wrote: ‘Been a good day visiting the children who were recently affected in the Manchester incident.

‘Words can’t describe how brave these children are. I wish them all a speedy recovery and to come back stronger’.

Lingard was also at the One Love Manchester concert on Sunday which raised millions for the victims and their families.

In videos posted on his Instagram page he joined Manchester dignitaries for a minute’s silence before the concert at Old Trafford Cricket Ground began.
