We can’t deal with truth

-

WE always say that we do not trust our politicians, but do we really want them to tell the truth?

Jeremy Corbyn started the election as a no-hoper and an eccentric stuck in a time warp. Ultimately, he became a messiah with a huge fan club.

The way he did it will change future elections.

Theresa May did make many mistakes but her biggest one was that she told the truth. However, the public proved they are not interested in anything but good news.

Labour gave the majority of people of all ages great hope and optimism.

There has been too much pessimism and depression in people’s lives recently and the last thing they want to hear is much more doom and gloom.

At a time where lots of people want instant gratification, Labour hit the right note.

I have no doubt that they would have adhered to their promises to help the NHS, the old and the young.

However, I equally have no doubts within three years we would also see higher taxation, high inflation, more unemployment higher interest rates and a probable recession.

Like everyone else I want jam today and I think Labour would give that and we would pay for the consequences of this in the future.

The next election will be fought on hope and optimism. Both Labour and the Tories now know that the public only want the good news and they will give it them.

We have only ourselves to blame if it all eventually goes wrong. Harry Singleton, Ashton-under-Lyne
