Lancs move T20 game for concert

LANCASHIRE have moved their opening home NatWest T20 Blast clash of the season away from Emirates Old Trafford to enable them to host a third concert of the season at the ground.

The club have agreed to host a Radiohead gig on Tuesday, July 4, with the group having to move the event away from the Manchester Arena following last month’s bomb attack there.

It means Lancashire will now face Leicestershire on Sunday, July 9 at one of their outgrounds, likely to be Blackpool, although the venue will be confirmed today.

The club have already hosted two concerts since the start of the season, including the One Love Manchester tribute concert which was arranged at short notice just eight days after The Courteeners played there.

But for those, no matches were moved.

The relocating of the Leicestershire game has angered some fans, who have already either bought tickets for the match or a season ticket for the competition.

Tickets already bought will be valid at the new venue, but the club will also refund tickets or offer to exchange them for another T20 match this season - apart from the home game with Yorkshire.

The amount of cricket Lancashire will play at Emirates Old Trafford this season has already been reduced, with one less County Championship match in the fixtures and six days already having been played at outgrounds.
