No limits as movie fans can still use cinema card

FILM lovers can still use their Odeon unlimited movie passes in Manchester city centre, despite major changes to the local multiplexes.

Odeon sold its Printworks site to Vue Entertainment last month.

The chain looks set to retain a presence in Manchester city centre after bosses revealed they are in talks with AMC – who bought Odeon group last year – to bring the Deansgate Great Northern site into its estate.

Cinema bosses say they are working on plans ‘to bring the AMC fully into the Odeon family.’

When Odeon revealed it was leaving the Printworks site, customers complained that they would lose the perks of the ‘Limitless’ movie scheme. Some moviegoers currently use a special pass to watch as many films as they want for £17.99 a month. And those signed up to the deal for 12 months said it was not convenient to travel to other Odeon outlets at the Trafford Centre and Oldham.

However, Odeon bosses now say customers will be able to use their Limitless cards at AMC’s Great Northern site on Deansgate.

AMC staff will accept Limitless membership cards when customers come in and book in cinema.

An Odeon spokesman said: “Following the change of ownership of our cinema in the Printworks in May this year, Odeon Limitless card-holders can continue to enjoy the very best entertainment at our Greater Manchester cinemas in the Trafford Centre, Oldham and Rochdale – as well as using their cards to book tickets incinema at the AMC Great Northern.

“We are currently working on plans to bring the AMC fully into the Odeon family in the near future, but in the meantime Limitless card holders can still make the most of their membership and the brilliant entertainment on offer whilst booking at the cinema’s box office.”

Earlier this year Odeon sold its 23-screen Printworks outlet, on Withy Grove, to Vue Entertainment.

All 113 employees are understood to have kept their jobs at the city centre complex. The multiplex changed hands after a ruling by the UK Competition and Markets Authority.
