Ant is out to make a big impact with the Hornets

- By TOM BRAMWELL

ROCHDALE have added a second Super League signing inside a week with the capture of Wakefield forward Anthony Walker until the end of the season.

Lewis Foster joined on loan from Leigh last week and made his debut in Hornets’ defeat to Toulouse last weekend, now Alan Kilshaw has moved to add further top-level experience to his squad.

The Rochdale coach revealed he has been coveting Walker for some time and is delighted to see the 25-year-old return to the club after featuring on dual registration in the 2015 season.

“The signing of Ant shows our intent to achieve the objectives we set out at the start of the season,” said Kilshaw.

“This is a great example of the club being player-centres and, having spoken to him, I know he can’t wait to play again and pull on the shirt for the remainder of the season.

“He adds to the group both on and off the field and I am delighted to have finally got his signature after pursuing him for the last 18 months.”

Liam Bent’s loan spell at Oldham has been extended, but parent club Salford have insisted it is on a week-by-week basis.

He is available to Roughyeds boss Scott Naylor for Sunday’s visit of Halifax to Bower Fold and the rearranged Dewsbury fixture on Wednesday night.

Sammy Gee is expected to be available to face Fax, with his disciplinary hearing for the red card at last month’s Summer Bash expected to be heard on Tuesday.
