Stacey inspired by pupils on pro debut

- BOXING By SHELDAN KEAY

STACEY Copeland will be hoping to take inspiration from students at Parrs Wood High School when she makes her professional debut tonight.

Copeland is entering the paid ranks after a successful period in the amateurs, but alongside her boxing career she also works at Parrs Wood.

The school has hit the headlines recently after performing with Ariana Grande at her One Love benefit concert set up in the aftermath of the Manchester Arena bomb attack.

Copeland’s fight at Bowlers Exhibition Centre takes place on a bill where £5 from each ticket sold will be donated to the fund set up for those affected by the attack.

“What happened in Manchester was devastating, so it’s great that £5 from every ticket sold for the event will be donated,” she said.

“It’s had a massive impact at our school due to the choir performing at the benefit gig. We’ve had messages from people all around the world saying how much it touched them.

“It was really inspiring to see the students do that and I’m happy to be making my debut in Manchester after the solidarity that has been shown over the past few weeks.”

Copeland will take on Borislava Goranova in her debut on a packed bill that also features Sam Hyde, Adam Hague, Matty Mainwaring, Stephen Danyo and Mark Jeffers.

Tickets are available from pbeofficial.com.
