A FIVE-day exhibition in Manchester will highlight the stories and experiences of refugees, as part of National Refugee Week.

From drawings by Syrian children to interactive video games about the refugee experience, Our City, Our Home aims to convey the journeys made by those in the refugee community.

Based in Z-Arts on Stretford Road, the event was starting today and continues throughout the week with a variety of events, exhibitions, screenings and debates.

An exhibition entitled Home Is… queries what makes a home, and there will be events taking place simultaneously that celebrate the welcoming of refugee communities to Manchester.

On display will be photographs, refugee narratives, Syrian children’s drawings and the United Nations’ Against game.

Today, from 2pm to 4pm, the screening of short films produced by MA History students at the University of Manchester on the theme of ‘Migration’ was being hosted by Professor of Public History, Michael Wood .

The refugee week programme culminates with the annual Manchester Refugee Week celebration event - a free celebration of refugee culture with live performances, food, drink, All Odds video music and dancing, which takes place on Friday June 23 from 4pm to 8.30pm at Z-Arts.
