Becks’ boy puts focus on family in photos book

-

BROOKLYN Beckham, the teenage son of David and Victoria Beckham, will launch his debut photography book in Manchester – at an exclusive signing event next week.

Brooklyn, 18, told the M.E.N. he was keen to launch his book in Manchester because of his family’s strong links to the city where his dad became a footballing legend at Manchester United.

His photography book, What I See, contains 300 of Brooklyn’s images, including snaps of his mum and dad, brothers Cruz and Romeo and baby sister Harper and family holidays.

Brooklyn said: “Manchester is so close to our family’s heart. I love it here so much and so when I was asked where I wanted to go first it was always going to be here.”

But the location of the book signing is being kept so secret that fans who book their place to attend will only find out where it is through an email from the organisers two days before.

It’s sparked rumours that Brooklyn will be joined by members of his high-profile family for the event on Friday, June 30. And Brooklyn is full of praise for his parents in their support of his project. He said: “They have been incredibly supportive. They know photography really is my passion and were so helpful while I was working on the book.” But what was it like to grow up with two of the most famous people on the planet? He says: “They are just my mum and dad. “We live a normal family life at home. “They are very cool and they work really hard and have instilled a strong work ethic in all of us.” In terms of when Brooklyn first realised his family were famous, he can pin it down to Old Trafford. He says: “I’m not really sure exactly how old I was - but I know it wasn’t until I heard people chanting my dad’s name on the pitch! “So I would have been pretty young.” He adds: “For me Manchester is always going to be about the football and Old Trafford watching my dad play as I got older.” Brooklyn was approached by publisher Penguin to create the book after they had seen his images on social media. He said: “I was so happy they asked. It’s a really amazing opportunity for me.

“The book really is what it says - it’s what I see. Images of my close friends and family.

“Pictures from different places I’ve been lucky enough to visit. Some light hearted selfies. I hope people find it fun. I’ve captioned the shots but really kept it mainly visual.”

Brooklyn hopes to make a career out of photography, and has revealed he will be heading to live in New York from September to study photography at college.

What I see is published by Penguin Random House on June 29, priced £16.99, and Brooklyn will be at the book launch in Manchester on Friday, June 30. You can book tickets for £20.39 via www.eventbrite.co.uk.
