/Brits splash out on holiday wardrobe
BRITS splash out more than £200 on new clothes for their summer holiday every year.
New research has found that, on average, women’s holiday wardrobes are worth £5,500, with the total value of men’s summer holiday wardrobes coming in at £3,200, on average.
According to a new survey, 82 per cent of Brits don’t set a budget before setting out to buy new threads for their beach break.
It also revealed that a third of people surveyed had arrived at the airport with an overweight suitcase - despite the fact that travellers said they only ended up wearing just over half of their new holiday clothes on the trip.
To help travellers avoid overpacking or over-spending, online jewellery site Silver Tree Jewellery have created a ‘Holiday Wardrobe Calculator’, which allows travellers to see the value of the contents of their suitcase before hopping on a plane.
The calculator allows travellers to select your gender, and then input the number of each designer or high street item found within the suitcase.
These items include shoes, jackets, t-shirts, shorts, accessories and other essentials. Once entered, the calculator will reveal the grand total of the suitcase’s contents.
Oliver Gibson, owner at Silver Tree Jewellery said: “It’s clear from the survey how much Brits love to treat themselves to a new wardrobe, including jewellery, before jetting off on holiday.
“With so many holidaymakers not setting a budget before packing, perhaps our new tool will help Brits to pack better before going away.”
