No chance of Aguero swap for Sanchez, says pundit

SERGIO Aguero and Alexis Sanchez swapping clubs would be a ‘minefield’, according to former Arsenal defender Nigel Winterburn.

Pep Guardiola has made the Chilean his No.1 target this summer and plans to pair him with both Aguero (pictured) and Gabriel Jesus in a mouthwatering frontline.

Aguero, who enjoyed his best-ever goalscoring campaign last season, has confirmed that he has no plans to leave City and is ‘very happy’ at the club.

But the Daily Star claims discussions have been held about the South Americans swapping clubs this summer as City look to land their top target and Arsenal search for a top-class replacement.

Winterburn, who won nine trophies with the Gunners in a 13-year spell at the club, feels it is a long shot.

“It’s a minefield,” he told bwin.

“But I can see where that link would come because they want a highquality centre forward and Aguero is certainly that.

“I don’t know with two highvalue players how easy it’ll be.

“I can’t remember when this sort of deal has actually happened in the past.

“Contract lengths are different and clubs’ valuations of players can change.

“I just wonder whether Arsenal have taken the view, ‘if you keep pestering Sanchez, we’ll start talking about your players’.”

Sanchez, who scored 30 goals last season as Arsenal failed to finish in the top four for the first time in 21 years, has a year left on his current deal at the Emirates.

The 28-year-old remained tight-lipped when asked about his future after becoming Chile’s record goalscorer at the Confederations Cup last week.

“Our dream is to win this competition. We’re really focused on that and we think we will be able to do so,” he said.
