Dea getting paws under the table...

ABANDONED CAT WITH WEBBED FEET IS GIVEN A NEW HOME BY CARING OWNER

- By REBECCA DAY

A BLACK cat with webbed feet has found a loving home after being cruelly abandoned in a back garden.

Deandra was found ‘dishevelled’ along with two other cats when they were forced to fend for themselves for WEEKS when their owners moved home.

The adorable moggy has a genetic condition which means her toes aren’t separated properly, and her paws look like birds’ feet.

Luckily, the cats were rescued and taken to the Manchester and Salford branch of the RSPCA.

However, Dea began feeling lonely after 10 weeks at the centre and was in desperate need of a permanent home.

The M.E.N. ran an appeal to help rehome her, and when Michael Casemore from Sale heard about her story, he thought she was too sweet to resist, and adopted her.

He said: “She was a bit shy at first but she’s started going out now. She’s doing great and everyone that meets her loves her.

“She was very affectionate when I went to visit although she did look quite content in her cat pod. I knew she had already been there a long time so I just had to take her.

“She’s quite a character actually. She’s calm and cool with other cats but has made a few friends in the area and she has the cutest squeaky meow.

“I don’t think her webbed toes slow her down but she can be a little bit clumsy sometimes. I don’t know if it’s her paws or if it’s just her way.”

Branch manager of the Manchester and Salford RSPCA Susie Hughes said: “We were called about Deandra and her two friends after the owner moved away and abandoned the cats.

“They had apparently been living in the bottom of the garden for weeks.

“All three of them came to us. Deandra and her two companions were a little dishevelled when they were collected but after living outside for several weeks, it’s hardly a surprise.

“After a few weeks of TLC they were unrecognisable from before.

“I’m so pleased that Deandra has found a loving new home now after everything she’s been through.

“She was such a hit with the staff and so sweet, especially with her little webbed paws. We were sad to see her go but thrilled she’s found her forever home.”
