A TEENAGER says he has been left scared to leave the house after ending up in hospital when he was knocked off his bicycle by a car.

Marcus Henderson was cycling home on Friday evening when he was involved in a collision on Crossacres Road in Wythenshawe.

The 14-year-old said a car tried to overtake him but clipped his bike, knocking him to the ground.

Marcus fractured his elbow and suffered cuts to his knees. He was taken to Wythenshawe Hospital for treatment.

He claims the driver threatened to sue him for damaging his car.

The teenager is now at home recovering, but says he has become wary about leaving the house following the incident.

The Kingsway School student said: “I was riding my bike on the road and a car tried to overtake me, but it clipped my wheel.

“I went over the bonnet and landed on my elbow, I’ve got lots of cuts and grazes on my knees.

“The driver got out of his car and said he was going to sue me for the damage caused to his car.

“One of the neighbours came out and helped me.

“I haven’t left the house that often since, I haven’t gone very far since Friday. I have gone back to school, but I can’t write.”

Mum Rachel said: “Marcus was supposed to be home at 9pm. I got a phone call saying what had happened.

“Luckily he is fine now, but he was shaken up by what happened.”

Police are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

A GMP spokesman said: “We were called at 9.25pm on July 7 to Crossacres Road in Wythenshawe to a report of a fail to stop collision.

“The collision involved a cream and black Renault Captur and a cyclist.

“The cyclist was taken to hospital with a suspected fractured arm.”

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101 quoting incident number 2396 of July 7.
