A MAN had his throat slashed in a horrifying attack in broad daylight.

Police said the 28-year-old was left with a six-inch wound to his neck, but his condition is not thought to be lifethreatening.

The man was taken to hospital and is now recovering at home following the attack in Bury on July 9.

Detectives have now issued an e-fit of a man they want to speak to in connection with the attack.

Police said a blue Ford Fiesta was seen driving erratically down Bury Old Road and Sheepfoot Lane in Prestwich at around 5pm.

The vehicle stopped at the junction of Middleton Road, on the Blackley border, blocking another car from passing.

A passenger in the car behind got out and approached those inside the Fiesta, asking the driver to move.

When the man reached the car, a man got out, lunged at him and slashed him with a knife across the throat, before getting back in the Fiesta and driving off along Middleton Road towards the M60. Police said the attacker was white, around 30-yearsold, of slim build and around 5ft 11. He had number one-length shaved hair, long stubble or a short beard and was wearing a light blue T-shirt and denim shorts. Officers also want to speak to a woman said to be with the man in the Fiesta. They say she was white, around 32 years old, of slim build and around 5ft 6ins tall. Det Con Rick Pack of GMP’s City of Manchester Team, said: “This is a frightening situation where a man immediately resorted to violence before fleeing the scene. “Fortunately, the victim is recovering well and escaped any life-threatening injuries, but despite our enquiries, the offender is still outstanding. “If you recognise the man in the e-fit or from the description provided, please get in touch with us as soon as you possibly can.” Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161 856 6460, 101 quoting reference number 1769 of July 9 - or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
