CEREAL giant Kellogg’s is looking to close its Old Trafford head office and move to MediaCityUK.

The four mile move, to the Salford Quays site, has been under close wraps with staff only told about the move this week.

Currently based on the corner of Talbot Road and Warwick Road it has been the main office for Kellogg’s in the UK since the 1990s.

Meanwhile the brand’s historic Trafford Park factory, a local landmark which was built in 1938, will stay put.

The deal, which was still being negotiated yesterday, will see hundreds of staff move to offices in the Orange Tower.

Here they will join the likes of Salford University and ITV in the prestigious office building.

Arranged over nine floors and providing 158,758 sq ft, Orange Tower has views over the piazza and Quays.

It is not yet known how much space Kellogg’s will take in the mixed use building or what will become of their previous HQ.

However, they are the latest food and drink brand to move into the space alongside the likes of The Botonist, which is due to open in September.

Dave Lawlor, Kellogg’s UK and Ireland Managing Director, said: “We can confirm we have announced this morning that we are relocating employees currently based at our Talbot Road site to a new office in MediaCity UK from early next year.

“Talbot Road has served us well over almost three decades but it’s time to move to somewhere which better reflects where we want to take our business in the future.

”We’ve been proud to call Greater Manchester our UK home since 1938 so incredibly pleased to be staying within the city-region, a short distance away from our current site.” Dr Gordon Fletcher, business and retail expert from the University of Salford Business School said: “Kellogg’s move reflects the increasing importance of data and digital to all types of businesses. Kellogg’s will be next door to its marketing agency and have direct access to a still wider range of skills including data analysts, user experience experts and designers.

“For this manufacturer the recognition that content is king will drive a new level of prosperity.”

A MediaCityUK spokesperson would not comment.
