Pogba calls on team to continue winning

- By SAMUEL LUCKHURST

PAUL Pogba has called on his United teammates to build on the mentality that led to a 2-0 victory over Manchester City in Houston.

And although the match was officially billed as a friendly, Pogba was delighted to finish on the winning side.

The Frenchman told MUTV: “It’s a derby. We want to win against Man City obviously, we want to show that we are ready. It was the third game and we have to carry on like that. But we have to keep the winning mentality.

“The legs start going now for everyone, now we have more minutes so we have to keep playing with more minutes to get fit.”

He added: “The second goal is very well played by Mkhitaryan, we had a few counter attacks and he played in Marcus and the goal came easily.

“It’s a great goal. Great by Mkhi and everyone.

“When Romelu [Lukaku] has the ball on the left, it keeps Rashford free and he is alone in front of the keeper and he scored.

“I think last season we missed a lot of chances and we need to score goals. When we have chances we have to kill games because at 1-0 the three points are very important in the Premier League.

“Now we need to start scoring goals and we did that today so we have to keep this mentality.

“Hopefully this season will be more on my side but if we win and I don’t score I will be happy.”
