THE heartbroken family of a teenager who died in a car crash said she ‘couldn’t wait to start her adult life’.

Demi Paige Grewer, from Burnage, suffered fatal injuries in the collision near Wilmslow town centre in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The 18-year-old, who had attended Priestnall School in Heaton Mersey, Stockport, is believed to have been on her way home from a birthday celebration.

Demi, a trainee hairdresser, was in a white Vauxhall Mokka travelling along the A34 Birrell Way, which police said crashed at the roundabout near the TrustFord garage. Her family has now released a statement, in which her loved ones speak of her excitement ‘starting her adult life’.

It reads: “Our beautiful daughter and loving sister, taken too soon.

“Demi had an infectious laugh and was so bubbly. She loved life, her job and gave it everything. She had just turned 18 and couldn’t wait to start her adult life. We beam with pride as we see what a wonderful young lady she was. Our hearts break as we have to say goodbye. Darren says she always rang ‘daddy day care’ for her lifts. She was truly loved by her friends and family and will be missed by everyone.”

Demi is understood to have worked at the Pepita J Hairdressing salon in Cheadle as a trainee. Tributes were also paid to the popular teen on social media following the tragic news of her death.

Amiee Mckie wrote on Facebook: “You were such a lovely girl, you made my weekend more enjoyable when I’d see you. You will be deeply missed.”

Charlotte West posted: “You were one of the most genuine, amazing people I have ever met, putting smiles on everyone’s faces. I’m utterly gutted that you’re gone. I love and will miss you so much, RIP Demi Grewer.”

Courtney Cunningham wrote: “So heartbroken to even be writing this, RIP Demi, you were the most happiest, bubbliest girl I have ever had the pleasure of calling my friend.”

Police, were called at around 3.30am to Birrell Way at the junction with Manchester Road. Demi was rushed to hospital, but died of her injuries. A spokesman for Cheshire Police said her family is being supported by specialist officers.

A 21-year-old man from Manchester arrested on suspicion of drink driving at the scene has been released under investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, quoting incident 147 of July 23, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on0800 555 111.
