Man fined after bin bags found dumped in street

-

A MAN has been fined after bin bags and a shopping trolley of his household waste were found dumped.

Radek Miskovic, of Queensland Road, Gorton, told Manchester council officers a man called at his home offering to dispose of his domestic waste.

Miskovic, 41, said he paid the man a fee of £25, but admitted he did not check whether he was authorised to take waste away.

He also failed to obtain a waste transfer note, which is required by law.

The waste was found by council officers dumped on Alpine Street in Clayton in October 2016.

At a hearing at Manchester magistrates court, Miskovic admitted breaching environmental protection law. He was fined £40 and ordered to pay court costs of £270.

Councillor Nigel Murphy, executive member for neighbourhoods, said: “Miskovic has learned the hard way that waste disposal is not a responsibility which can simply be dodged.

“When bogus waste collectors offer to take away people’s rubbish, all too often, it ends up fly-tipped in our neighbourhoods.

“This is a real source of anger and frustration for the vast majority of us – which is why our Environmental Crimes team work hard to gather the evidence, track offences back to the household responsible and prosecute.”
