Heartbroken family pay tribute to stabbed dad
THE family of a dad stabbed to death after going into the street to defend his fiancée from a group of feuding yobs have spoken of their heartbreak.
Mike Grimshaw, 34, was fatally injured following the attack outside his Trafford home on July 20. A manhunt for his killer is underway.
Detectives believe Mr Grimshaw went to defend his fiancée Michelle Pook, who had gone outside to stop three young men harassing a fourth man.
When Michelle became the subject of verbal abuse, Mike stepped in and confronted the group. He was then stabbed in the neck outside his home on Royton Avenue in Sale at 11.10pm. The four men fled the scene. Mr Grimshaw, died from his injuries in hospital.

His mother Janet and sister Emma have now spoken of their heartbreak. In a statement, Janet said: “My son was the most caring, patient and gentle person.
“A rock not only to his family, but to his many friends. He adored his daughter Erin and cherished the time spent with her. I cannot put into words how much my heart is broken and the sorrow I feel for his daughter, sister, niece, nephew, partner and her family, my extended family and all who knew him. “He will be greatly missed.” Sister Emma wrote: “Our hearts are heavy with the loss of my amazing brother and fantastic uncle to my heartbroken children.
“Mike has been my rock since the loss of my dad and I cannot imagine how life is going to be without him.
“He filled our lives with love and laughter and I am so proud to be able to say that he was my brother.
“I cannot find the words to explain how much he means to me.”
Michelle’s daughter Rachel Whalley has set up a fundraising campaign on gofundme to help the family. Any money raised will help mum-of-four Michelle - who has vowed never to return to the Royton Avenue property – to set up in a new home, pay for school uniforms and for Christmas as a single mum. Donations will also be used to pay for Mr Grimshaw’s funeral costs.
