Swedish winger commits his future to German club

RB Leipzig winger Emil Forsberg has insisted he is fully focused on his club amid speculation about a move to United.

The Swede has been touted as a possible alternative to Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic over the past two days because the Reds have struggled to get a deal over the line for him.

The 25-year-old has also been linked with a host of other top clubs but has now spoken out about his future and is adamant he is committed to his next season in the Bundesliga.

Speaking to Kicker, he said: “I only answered a question from a journalist and my answer was that Bayern Munich are one of the biggest clubs such as Real [Madrid], Barca and Manchester [United]. Have I said anything bad about Leipzig? I have always spoken positively about RB so I don’t understand the uproar.

“For me everything is good and I am fully motivated and focused and I want to have an even better season than the last with RB.”

Last week, Italian outlet Calcio Mercato reported that United are preparing a £44m offer for the 25-year-old and that the club had been in contact with Forsberg’s representatives over a potential move.

Jose Mourinho wants to make four priority signings this summer and has already secured Victor Lindelof and Romelu Lukaku. But United are yet to secure their final two targets – and Mourinho has said he may have to settle on just one more addition.
