THE teenager murdered in a horrific knife attack in Moss Side – which left three others seriously hurt – has been named as Sait Mboob.

The 18-year-old was stabbed when a bloody fight broke out between a group of young men on the Alexandra Park Estate on Tuesday night.

Sait, a former pupil at Loreto High School in Chorlton, was taken to hospital but died a short time later. Police sealed off Crosshill Street and several other roads at around 8.40pm and forensics teams worked into the early hours collecting evidence.

Eyewitnesses described seeing one victim bleeding through his clothes and slumped against a wall.

Detectives launched a murder investigation after the fatal brawl, in which three other teenagers suffered stab wounds.

Two boys, aged 17, and an 18-year-old man suffered ‘very serious injuries,’ police said.

Armed police officers were last night guarding them in hospital. Sait’s family are being comforted at their Manchester home but were too upset to talk to the M.E.N. about the tragedy yesterday.

Tributes have flooded in from friends.

Writing on Facebook, Neeks Smith said: ‘R.I.P. Sait Mboob, gone too soon. Will truly be missed by everyone. We used to chill on the estate with everyone in the summer and you forever gave us all joke! You didn’t deserve to die so soon, R.I.P. Sait.’

While Assan Jarju commented: ‘Rest in peace my boy, my friend, Sait Mboob.’

Police were first scrambled to Crosshill Street shortly after 8.30pm on Tuesday night to reports of a large fight.

When officers arrived they found four people had suffered stab wounds.

The injured victims were rushed to hospital by ambulance, but Sait died a short time later. Three other teenagers remained seriously injured in hospital last night.

Andrew Mitchell, from Chorlton, saw one of the injured men on Tuesday night. He said: “We were leafleting for a local church in the area and all of a sudden this guy came running into the midst of us – he was running and staggering. He said: ‘I’ve been stabbed.’

“He was wearing some kind of top and when it opened you could see there was a lot of blood.”

Mr Mitchell said armed police were first on the scene and officers gave the injured man, believed to be in his late teens, first aid. It happened at the junction of Crosshill Street and Sharcott Close, Mr Mitchell said.

Another witness, who did not want to be named, told the M.E.N.: “I saw a group of young lads running down Great Western Street and then round the corner. The guys got out the car and started fighting. The ones in the cars were the ones with the knives. They had their faces covered. Three of the lads had been stabbed, two of them very badly. One had been injured in the head and in the leg. There was blood everywhere. It was very sad to see. It’s very tragic someone died. The police do a good job but we need more patrolling on foot.”

Patrols have been ramped up following the attack.

Police say there is no information at this stage to link the incident to the conviction on Monday afternoon of 10 young men and a 15-yearold boy in connection with the murder of 18-year-old Abdul Hafidah, in Moss Side, last May.

Superintendent Dave Pester said there is no information to suggest those involved in the incident are members of gangs.

“At the forefront of this investigation, as always, are the victims and their families,” he said.

Call police on 101, quoting incident number 1918 of Wednesday, August 9, 2017, if you have any information.
