Tragedy of man who never gave up search for his missing brother

- By KATHERINE BAINBRIDGE

A MAN who had ‘suffered his fair share of sadness’ after his brother went missing and his mum passed away has tragically died.

Tommy Nuttall’s brother Ciaron vanished without a trace after a family row in March 2011 at the age of 18. He was last seen on Cardigan Street, in Royton.

Now Tommy, who never gave up searching for his brother, has sadly passed away – it is understood he was found at home in Royton on Monday after a short illness.

Friends have been paying tribute to the 28-year-old, who worked at Evissa Hair & Beauty in Shaw, on Facebook.

Samantha Houghton said: “So sad to wake up and hear a friend has passed. R.I.P Tommy Nuttall. You were a true gent, so funny to be around and a pleasure to spend time with. You will be greatly missed.”

Krystal Leanne Henderson said: “This is a big shock. Can’t believe you have gone. Gone to soon. We will never forget you. I love you Tommy Nuttall. Never forgotten.”

Christina Papahristu said: “Still can’t believe you’re no longer with us its time to defy gravity fly high an join ur mum an family so glad I got to know you! Taken way to soon.”

And Julia Ella Jones said: “R.I.P. To my good friend Tommy Nuttall, spirit keep you darling. Hopefully our paths will cross again. For now rest easy brother.”

Tommy’s mum, Anne-Marie Walls, died in February last year and an inquest held in Heywood heard that he had found her in bed in her home in Royton – a verdict of misadventure was recorded.

At the time, Coroner Lisa Hashmi said to Tommy: “You’ve had your fair share of sadness. I sincerely hope that this draws a line in the sand for you for the rest of your life.

“I wish you all the very best in your endeavours to find your sibling.”

Following the death of their mum Tommy made a renewed appeal to find Ciaron, saying: “I need him more than ever now. I want to let him know that everything is OK and we miss him so much. He is always at the forefront of our minds.

“If he does come back he doesn’t even need to stay. We just want to know he’s safe.”
