A TEENAGE friend of Sait Mboob has described their poignant last conversation.

Mesha Davis, 17, from Wythenshawe, says Sait told her there was something stirring in Moss Side that night – and that she urged him to ‘be careful’ in the minutes before he was killed.

Sait, 18, grew up in Openshaw but spent a lot of time in Moss Side, where his grandmother and a number of schoolfriends lived.

Manchester College student Mesha said she was 12 when she first met Sait in the area, during adventure play sessions with a youth group.

“He was a really good friend to me over the years,” she said. “We went out together for a few months in 2015. My mum passed away in October and he was really supportive.

“On the night he was hurt he told me something was going to happen. He told me there was an argument and that he was going to Moss Side.

“I was worried that he would get hurt and I told him to be careful. He said ‘OK, then,’ and put the phone down. I never got the chance to see him again.”

Mesha added: “I just want people to know that Sait was an amazing, talented person.

“I will never forget him, he always put a smile on my face, he gave me so many amazing memories, he helped me since I was at the age of 12 with difficulties.

“To find out Sait got his life taken away has left his friends and family distraught. Sait was an inspiration, but everyone will have to come to terms with the fact that our Sait is now resting in paradise.

“His family, his friends and myself will never forget him. I will never ever forgive the people who were involved in the situation and the person who took his life away, – not one person thought ‘this really isn’t a good idea, someone will get hurt.’

“I hope from this, all the young children and adults will now think what they are doing and the consequences, and how the family will feel that their family member is no longer here.

“Sait you’re now in a better place – your memories will stay and your laughter will remind us of who you were.”

Sait, a business student from Openshaw, is not believed to have been involved in street gang activity.

However, friends believe he was killed after he and his friends faced bullying from gang members.

Last week police said it was a ‘line of enquiry’ that the people behind Sait’s killing were involved in ‘street criminality.’

Officers arrested a 17-year-old on suspicion of murder on Thursday, while a 32-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder on Friday.

Both were bailed pending further enquiries on Sunday.
