- FOOTBALL By SHELDAN KEAY

BOLTON are still searching for their first league win of the season after they were held to a 0-0 draw at Birmingham City.

It leaves Wanderers in 18th place in the Championship table having picked up two points from their opening three games.

In National League North, SALFORD CITY claimed bragging rights against local rivals STOCKPORT COUNTY by picking up a 2-1 win at Moor Lane.

Goals from Michael Nottingham and Anthony Dudley put the hosts ahead, but Stockport scored thanks to a strike from Connor Hampson.

But Salford managed to hold on to earn all three points against their neighbours.

FC UNITED were involved in a high-scoring affair after failing to hold on to their lead, finishing with a 3-3 draw at Southport.

The Rebels were 2-0 up at the break after goals from Nathan Lowe and James Hooper, before Liam Martin pulled one back for Southport.

Craig Lindfield then restored FC’s two-goal lead, but late goals from Adam Dugdale and Jake Sampson meant FC United were denied a win.

In the National League, MACCLESFIELD TOWN also conceded two late goals as they were beaten 2-1 at Sutton United.

The Silkmen led 1-0 after Scott Wilson put his team in front on two minutes, but Moses Emmanuel and Tommy Wright netted in the closing moments to inflict a disappointing defeat on Macclesfield.
