A MAN was snatched, bundled into the boot of a car and stabbed before escaping ‘covered in blood.’

Detectives are now investigating the dramatic kidnap which took place in Sale Moor yesterday.

The victim was driven some distance while trying to struggle free from the vehicle, described by onlookers as a black Volkswagen Passat.

Amazed witnesses described how they saw legs dangling from the boot of the car as it drove down Wythenshawe Road, Northern Moor, just before 3pm.

The man was then seen emerging from the vehicle as it sped along Sale Road.

Passers-by raced to help the man as he escaped the vehicle. His kidnappers fled the scene.

The victim was taken to hospital by ambulance where he remains in a stable condition.

A large section of Sale Road and Wythenshawe was cordoned off by police while an investigation took place.

No arrests have been made and police continue to hunt for the attackers.

Police say they responded to reports of a stabbing on Wythenshawe Road and established the man had been assaulted and kidnapped in Sale Moor before officers arrived at the scene.

A worker for building company Beechcroft BMS dialled for an ambulance after he saw the victim escape from the boot of the car.

A spokesman for the company said: “One of our workers was dropping some tools off.

“A car has gone past him on the wrong side of the road with a pair of legs hanging out of the back of the boot.

“The car has stopped in front of him.

“A person came out and tried to slam the boot door down.

“After a bit of a scuffle the lad managed to get out, he looked in a bad way.

“Our lad stayed and called the emergency services.

“On the other side of the road there was a care home and all the staff came rushing out.”

It is understood members of staff gave first aid to the victim until the ambulance arrived.
