JOSE Mourinho has dismissed the idea that United have become an overnight ‘dream team’ because of their opening match whipping of West Ham.

The Reds 4-0 Premier League win was the best result of the first matches of the new campaign and had the Old Trafford fans purring.

But Mourinho has warned that it doesn’t mean a thing yet.

“I’m too experienced and stable to lose my discipline, my stability and to think a 4-0 really makes us the best team in the country, makes us the favourites or makes us the dream team,” said Mourinho ahead of United’s second game at Swansea.

“We’re not favourites, we’re not the dream team, we’re just a team with more confidence than last season, with more time of work together, with more happiness probably and more relaxed on the pitch with the way we play matches, but I’m calm.

“When I look to the last match, I like many, many things, but the challenge is not to repeat the result, because to repeat a 4-0 win is difficult to repeat in the Premier League, but to repeat the same kind of performance.

“We had good tactical discipline in the team, a really good clean sheet, played good football, had a good dynamic in attack, we were scoring goals, winning 1-0 and we kept playing to try to score more goals and to try to play well.

“I liked a lot. I liked also the fact the three subs, who are normally disappointed people to be on the bench, they came to the pitch even for five minutes like Jesse (Lingard), or 10 like Anthony (Martial) or 15 like Fellaini and they perform at same level. And when I look even to the stands and I have good players that I didn’t even select, so I am happy.”

Last season Mourinho kicked off his United era with a 3-1 away win at Bournemouth on the opening day and then beat Southampton and Hull. “It is just the beginning. Last season we started three matches with nine points and we finished sixth,” added the United manager. “So it is not because of a very good first day that I am going to lose my stability and discipline and let the players think differently to me.” Mourinho, meanwhile, would back changing the transfer window deadline to ensure it closes before the season starts. “I would like it to close before the first match,” he says. “I would prefer the window to close as soon as possible so everybody knows the players we have and the deals would be done earlier and nobody would be waiting for the last week and not have the situation where a player plays game number one for one team and game two for another.”
